CAMO CAMP
will be held Saturday June 21 from 10 am to 3 pm on the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds!
Here, kids
can become a high ranking “OMK official” by completing exciting tasks to "Survive the Desert".
The kids
will learn about overcoming mental and physical obstacles through a challenge course, learn about the land and people of Iraq
through hands on activities, speak with a military man or woman about their job within the military and military equipment,
send 'urgent messages' using the military language (the military phonetic alphabet) and finally create a video thank you message
to send to a military member currently overseas.
Everyone
can join in 'Surviving the Desert' any time between 10 am and 3 pm at the EXPO Building.
We hope kids and parents alike can learn about Iraqi people and land as well as our American men and women serving us.
Camo Camp
is sponsored by Operation Military Kids, the U.S. Army's collaborative effort
with America's communities to support
the children and youth impacted by deployment. Through a network of community partners, OMK provides youth program opportunities
for school age, middle school and teenaged youth and connects them to support resources where they live. South Dakota partners include: SDSU Cooperative Extension Service 4-H, SD National Guard,
American Legion, Boys and Girls Clubs, and the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies.
